Star Sailors Team Slots Explained

Adventurer — always on field; choose among 7 classes (Swordsman, Cleric, Paladin, etc.). Cannot be removed. Class element should align with your Battle line for Chain Bonus.

Battle Partners (×2) — fight alongside the Adventurer. They consume SP for active skills and deal direct damage or mitigation. Examples: Nina Stingblade, Heidi, Princess Jen, Caroline.

Assist Partners (×2) — stay off-field; a portion of their stats converts into team-wide bonuses. Gerbil, Hunter K, Quarter Rest Dora, and Mui define meta teams from the Assist row alone.

Monster Partner (×1) — grants opening buffs and Combo skills at battle start. Light Wisp, Ember Whelp, and Stone Golem fill different niches. See wiki monsters.

Only three units appear on the battlefield visually — Adventurer plus two Battle Partners. Assists and Monster still shape Combat Power and passive bonuses on the team sheet.

Star Sailors Team Building Rules

Strong Star Sailors team comp accounts follow five rules before copying any template from the tier list.

Rule 1 — Element coverage — bring at least three elements so stage weaknesses never hard-wall progress. Fire · Earth · Light is a common opener; add Water or Wind for mid-game.

Rule 2 — Chain Bonus — stack same-element skills across Battle Partners and Assists. Heidi (fire) plus fire Adventurer plus Ember Whelp Monster accelerates Chain multipliers.

Rule 3 — Break + sustain — every team needs one Break dealer (Nina, Heidi) and one healer or mitigation slot (Kaira, Jen, Dora). Failing either fails boss gates.

Rule 4 — Trait alignment — Daylight, Midnight, and Twilight traits grant small stat bonuses when matched across units. Nice-to-have early, important for raid min-max.

Rule 5 — Invest one carry — level and Gear one Battle DPS before promoting supports. Spread resources lose to focused Combat Power.

Early Game Team Comp — F2P & Reroll

The Star Sailors early game team comp splits into free-route and reroll paths. Both clear story through chapter 3 if you respect Break and healing slots.

F2P story team — Caroline (Battle debuff) · Rak or Soul (Battle DPS/tank) · Quarter Rest Dora (Assist heal) · Mui (Assist buff) · Stone Golem (Monster DEF buff). Covers fire, water, and wind with zero premium Compass.

Budget upgrade F2P — swap Soul for Carat if you pull the wind SR DPS. Dora remains the best free healer Assist through mid-game.

Reroll meta team — Nina Stingblade + Heidi (Battle) · Kaira + Gerbil (Assist) · Ember Whelp or Light Wisp (Monster). Covers earth, fire, and light with top-tier Break and Chain.
